There is always something to see at the plaza de Armas
On Sunday morning there were groups of men...and some women marching..it was impressive to see the determination on their faces as they focused on the next step...
There were so many people, it was impossible to get a close up...
The bands were excellent and really evoked emotions...I could imagine a battle field, cries of war...It's always amazing how much the people are immersed in wha they are doing.
I could understand why the city is so clean...the white stone that many of the buildings here are made of are actually scrubbed
I noticed a lot of people here read the newspapers at the vendors...have always wondered how they read the next page
The Chili River runs through Arequipa making a fantastic image
There is a very posh sports club that sits between to the River and Misit MountainI did not get a chance to go in...accept to hear of from a member who chased after me to say "hello' then warned me to be very cautious, that there are many thieves...next a security guard warned me of the same...this surprised me as the area is very posh and guarded...
I quickly left and went back to the 'safe' tourist zone....
I have noticed that there are many cops always watching...at least 2 at each block...
Arequipa is truly lovely and I have enjoyed my stay here...
the hotel
and the sites
I will gladly return here..at least each time I come back from a tour....
